Up

Laal Deevarain is about the corrupt justice system in our society. This is an everyday occurrence in our lives; but now we have gotten so used to seeing this that we turn a blind eye towards it. Everyone feels that hopefully it is not going to happen to them. The sad part is that no one is ready to do anything about it.

Laal Deevarain (Red Walls) is referring to the corridors of the so-called "Justice" halls that are now tainted with blood of the vulnerable, the week, the feeble, the unfortunate, the underprivileged and the bribery money. The system is deaf and can not hear the screams and does not feel the pain and the sufferings of the innocent. The favored, unjust and prejudiced decisions are made out of greed and voracity.

I wrote, played and recorded this song in 1995.

Vocals are by Yousuf Jamil. Yousuf's great strong voice has really enriched the song. Check out the lyrics and if they are still too abstract for you then get a friend to help you understand.

Laal Deevarain

Choor hain Zalim
Taqat kay nashay main
Girta hai hatora
Ghurbat ki kamar pay
Suntay nahi yay aah-o-pukarain
Kaghaz ki hain laal deevarain
Khoon ki naddi bahti jayay
Zulm ki chakki chalti jaya
Aah-o-faryad sun na payain
Zulm yay zalim dhatay jayain
Mit-ti nahi yay payaas hawis ki
Chuth-ti nahi yay mun ko lagi wi
Jhuktay jayain - Do yay parlay
Tooti kamar yay - Kaghaz kay wazan say
Dar-o-deevar hain nahi yay (twice)
Mutti kay - pathar kay - Paisa yay ya cheetay lahu kay
Solo
Dharkan dil ki - Hai ruknay wali
Zeest ki dori - katnay wali
Jhuktay jayain - Do yay parlay
Khoon hoa phir paapi kay qalam say
